2012年12月25日上午9时50分，省交通运输厅厅长冯西宁发布通车令，国家高速连霍线西安至宝鸡高速公路改扩建工程西安至兴平段通车仪式在这里举行。西宝高速公路是横穿我省关中地区、连接我国东部和西部的“黄金通道”，改扩建工程全长157公里，分三段建设。其中兴平至虢镇东段103公里已于去年11月22日先期通车，宝鸡过境段28公里目前正在建设中。此次通车的西安至兴平段全长25.71公里，概算投资38.79亿元，为新建八车道。该路段的建成，使西安至兴平将拥有两条快速通道，日最高通行能力也由过去的3万辆提高到了12

2015年12月8日，国家高速公路连（云港）霍（尔果斯）线陕西境临潼至兴平段并行线——西咸北环线高速公路建成通车。 西咸北环线高速公路是国高网G30N连霍高速临潼至兴平段的并行线，线路起自临潼区零口镇，止于户县秦渡镇，路线全长122公里，建设里程113公里（与新西宝高速公路共线9公里），设计时速120公里/小时，采用双向六车道高速公路设计标准。全线设互通立交17处，分离式立交55处，通道183道，涵洞360道，天桥44座，服务区4处，匝道收费站9处，连接线17公里。
