2012年12月25日上午9时50分，省交通运输厅厅长冯西宁发布通车令，国家高速连霍线西安至宝鸡高速公路改扩建工程西安至兴平段通车仪式在这里举行。西宝高速公路是横穿我省关中地区、连接我国东部和西部的“黄金通道”，改扩建工程全长157公里，分三段建设。其中兴平至虢镇东段103公里已于去年11月22日先期通车，宝鸡过境段28公里目前正在建设中。此次通车的西安至兴平段全长25.71公里，概算投资38.79亿元，为新建八车道。该路段的建成，使西安至兴平将拥有两条快速通道，日最高通行能力也由过去的3万辆提高到了12
