Mapper from Cincinnati, and where just about all of my edits are. I spend a huge amount of my free time (and there’s quite a lot of it) making maps, usually via OSM/derivatives. I am one of the primary mappers for the KOI area on OpenHistoricalMap, and I’m fascinated by ‘artifacts’ of old things - for example, where KY-20 curves left just east of Hebron, right outside airport fences, there are patches of concrete where roads used to be: a part of KY-20 before the most recent airport expansion, and a few bits from the Laurel Park subdivision. I absolutely love cartography, especially of the historical variety - which is why I’m here, on OHM.

Something interesting I’ve found is that the OpenStreetMap background imagery catalog includes USGS topography, which is last from the 80s, and therefore shows things that were abandoned or razed a long, long time ago; see CVG for instance, huge difference. USGS topo helps quite a bit in narrowing down where things used to be.
